Men in Public

2017 - present

“Men in Public’’ incorporates black and white, color, digital and analog images in a visual investigation of privacy, consent, trust, and the gender binary in public spaces. Women are constantly invaded by the male gaze. What does it mean to reverse this experience of observation and perception? “Men in Public ‘’ delves into this question by utilizing the gaze to encase and recontextualize the role of men in the world, how we see them, and presents an opportunity for men to embody sweetness without social consequence. This series activates the inherent violence of photography in an attempt to destroy the confines which the gender binary sets all of us within. “Men in Public” bears witness to the tenderness which masculinity can openly exist as, celebrating male presenting joy, gentleness, love, and vulnerability. This project has largely been made in the midst of my daily life and past travels for the last seven years. The final form of this series will be both an exhibition and a book.

The catalogue of this series is for purchase here.
