Hometown, New Hampshire

In Progress

Hometown, New Hampshire is a series exploring the emotional tension between the place I come from and who I am today. It is a town filled with systemic suffering and rampant abuse without an exit sign. It is a town that survives on the love its inhabitants hold for their families and nothing else. This is a town which once thrived, and now chokes on its first waking breath at every sunrise. This is a town which sings with babbling creeks and birds you’ve never seen before. This town is where my ancestors set roots in America, four generations ago, and is where three generations of my family still reside. I can neither stay away from this place nor return to it, but I am the only one in my family who has left it. I am filled with anxiety arriving and dread departing. Hometown, New Hampshire is a deep breath, a sip of water, a second breath, and a deadpan stare. This place cannot be changed, but it can be witnessed. Tell me what you see.
